Il World Food Photography Awards ha premiato le foto del vino più belle, anno 2025. Vincono anche gli italiani.
Viviamo la nostra passione con i cinque sensi per avere stimoli non solo sensoriali ma anche emotivi, non è vero? Lo diciamo da sempre: le nostre vie edonistiche vanno oltre l’assaggio ed è quindi stupendo capire quanto e cosa ruota attorno all’universo alcolico e soprattutto se di forma artistica.

Riserviamo sempre uno spazio al World Food Photography Awards. Il concorso fotografico, ideato da Caroline Kenyon e dal suo team di The Food Awards Company, è aperto a tutti (professionisti e non, senza limiti di età) e premia il meglio della fotografia sul cibo di tutto il mondo.
Pensate che dalla prima edizione del 2011 sono state a oggi presentate più di 100.000 (fra immagini e pellicole) proposte da oltre 100 paesi del mondo.
In questa 14^ edizione sono state 29 le categorie (alcune anche riservate a giovani e giovanissimi) che sono andate a coprire una consistente gamma culturale della rappresentazione del cibo nella società: foto artistiche del cibo da copertina, immagini di famiglie che mangiano insieme per le feste, raffigurazioni delle realtà nella raccolta e nella produzione alimentare, cibo che cresce nel suo ambiente naturale e altro ancora.
Sono davvero foto splendide che arrivano da tutto il mondo ma, lo immaginate, a noi interessa particolarmente il tema alcolico e/o spirituale perciò vi mostriamo le foto vincitrici selezionate dalla giuria per le 3 categorie Wine Photographer of the Year (sezioni People, Places e Produce) sponsorizzate dalla nota casa vinicola cilena Errazuriz
People
La foto “Pinot Noir at Midnight” di Heather Daenitz (USA) si è aggiudicata il primo posto nella categoria Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year – People
La foto è stata scattata nella regione vinicola della Central Coast in California, nell’estremità occidentale della Santa Ynez Valley, sottozona Santa Rita Hills. Inquadra la raccolta manuale del Pinot noir in una fresca e nebbiosa aria di mezzanotte illuminata dai fari di un trattore al Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Un operaio aggiunge il suo contributo sul retro del trattore svuotando il contenitore di raccolta dei grappoli.
Una foto giudicata talmente bella da vincere anche il premio generale “overall“ delle 3 categorie Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year.

Under the glow of a tractor’s lights, vineyard workers handpick Pinot Noir in the cool, misty midnight air at Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located at the western end of the Santa Ynez Valley in California’s Central Coast wine region. One worker adds his contribution to the back of the tractor, a cascade of Pinot Noir falling from his picking bin.

During the harvest in the south of Spain, temperatures can be very high, so sometimes they choose to harvest at night to achieve better quality in the grapes and in the alcohol content.

Nella categoria Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year – Places il primo premio è andato all’italiano Alessandro Anglisani che ha impresso un’emozionante scorcio sui vigneti dell’Oltrepò Pavese, una vera e propria “finestra” aperta sullo splendore. Complimenti!

This image, taken in July 2024, captures a vineyard in Oltrepò Pavese, a historical region in the province of Pavia in Lombardy, Italy. The trees on the road act as a backdrop to emphasise the scene in its natural and at the same time, anthropized beauty.

The port lodge maintains an in-house wood shop to care for their barrel stocks. Tawny port ages in large tapered barrels that coopers carefully husband, taking them apart when needed, shaving and planing them, and re-fitting them to make them tight again before recycling them back into use.

In the shadow of the volcanoes of the Timanfaya National Park, a vineyard, including farm building, in the La Geria area of the island of Lanzarote. The vines are grown in the black volcanic soil, and either individual plants or short rows of them are protected from the prevailing wind by small walls.

Pinot Noir grapes are emptied into waiting trailers on the first day of harvest at Schramsberg Vineyard in Napa Valley. The first grapes of the season are destined for sparkling wine. Napa Valley, like many of the other main wine producing sites of the world, will have to adapt to climate change over the coming years. In Napa, the famous Cabernet variety can be susceptible to damage during the extreme summer heat waves, losing their colour and increasing the sugar content as the grapes shrivel like raisins. Vineyards are investing in technical and biological solutions, ranging from new grape varieties, to remain viable.

Overall Winner
Questo concorso, lo capite, ci piace troppo. Non vogliamo chiudere senza prima aggiungere qualcosa in più, a partire dal primo premio assoluto di World Food Photography Awards. Vincitrice della categoria “Food for the family“, la foto “The Elderly Having Delicious Food” della cinese Xiaoling Li è stata scattata nella provincia di Sichuan . Ritrae cinque anziane signore, con giacche colorate e cappelli di lana, che mangiano felici degli “involtini primavera” sedute a “Cancello del Drago” (espressione usata in Cina per riferirsi a vicini/e di casa he si riuniscono per chiacchierare, spettegolare e condividere storie)

Xiaoling Li © The Elderly Having Delicious FoodIn an early spring afternoon in Shuangliu Ancient Town, Sichuan Province, China, five elderly ladies in their eighties sit together. Wearing colourful jackets and wool hats, they happily eat the famous Sichuan snack ‘Spring rolls’. A wrap of thin homemade dough, filled with cucumber, carrot and shredded scallions, drizzled with green mustard, Sichuan pepper, red oil, sweet sauce, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. They are “setting up a Dragon Gate formation” – an expression used in China to refer to neighbourhood friends coming together to chat, gossip and share stories. Food makes these people happy; they enjoy a beautiful and joyful life.

World of Drinks
Non finisce qui… da quest’anno è stata aggiunta, in via sperimentale, una nuova categoria che, pur non potendo partecipare alla vittoria globale, ci interessa comunque da vicino: World of Drinks. Le foto devono avere come soggetto le bevande tranne, ovviamente, il vino che ha una sua sezione appositamente dedicata. Possono essere anche bevande analcoliche (caffè, smoothies…) ma, vedete sotto, il fascino del cocktail rimane qualcosa di speciale.
In carrellata, le tre foto più belle. Primo e secondo posto per le italiane Alessandra Bartoloni e Michela Balboni.

World of Drinks – 2nd place

At dawn, in Hungary’s Puszta, Janosh, one of the last Csikós cowboys drinks coffee in the wooden hut where horsemen rest. Since 4am, he has watched over his Nonius horses, setting them free to run before leading them back to the stables. A timeless tradition lives on.
